We are really looking forward to teaching the pupils this year and hope that they all have a happy and successful year. Please use this class page of the school website to keep updated and find out what is going on in school. Start and finish times:  8:50 – 3:15

‘Relationships’

This term our concept theme will be ‘Belonging.’ We will be learning about ourselves and people that are important to us. We will explore what makes a good friends and what characteristics we need to be a good friend. We will develop communication skills and consider how we can make positive relationships with other people. This concept theme will incorporate the core purposes of learning as well as developing other key skills including Health and Well-being, Language Literacy and Communication.

PE:

PE will take place on a Wednesday. Pupils can wear their kits into school and can stay in them for the day (trainers, shorts/leggings, T-shirts are fine, though may wish to bring a jumpier or hoodie when the weather is colder).

Snack:

Children will receive a daily morning snack. We ask for a contribution towards this of £5 per half term. If you prefer to pay weekly, it is £1 per week. In addition, we encourage the children to bring in a piece of fruit from home each day. We suggest small fruit or easy peelers such as bananas, satsumas or apples. If the fruit is cut up, please put it in a labelled container. The school provides milk for each child if they wish to have it. We also encourage all children to bring in their own water bottle which they can keep in the classroom and drink whenever they need to during the day.

Reading:

This Year we are introducing a new Reading and Phonics programme called Read Write Inc. It has proven to be a highly successful scheme, and we look forward to teaching it to your children and seeing how well their confidence develops. Soon, your children will be bringing books home to show you how well they can read them.

In class we will be reading many high quality books to help foster a love of reading.

HWB:

All Y1/2 pupils have a HWB login that they can use to access HWB on devices at home. J2Blast can be a useful tool to support Maths and spelling. And pupils can also use JiT to carry out any work they wish to do at home.
